Transformation and Sustainability of the Projet Casa Exhibition Space

Reopening fall 2026!

A major cultural initiative will enrich Montreal’s art scene for years to come. Projet Casa is proud to announce the transformation and long-term sustainability of its exhibition space located at 4351 Esplanade Avenue in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal. Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, Projet Casa began in 2020 as a temporary initiative providing exhibition space to artists whose projects had been canceled. Following the positive results of its first five years of activity – hosting 39 exhibitions, 48 curators, 143 artists, and nearly 15,000 visitors – co-founders and co-owners Danielle Lysaught and Paul Hamelin are committed to ensuring the continuation of their house’s mission dedicated to visual arts. They are now unveiling the architectural sketches of their transformation project.

This project, which combines historical preservation with modernization, will include expanding the art gallery and adding two residential units, all while preserving the architectural integrity of this heritage building. Construction is set to begin in winter 2025, with a public reopening scheduled for fall 2026.

This significant financial investment will not only preserve a space dedicated to showcasing contemporary art but also provide a permanent platform for local artists, with an emphasis on education and social inclusion.
